5 tanzende Volumen formen den Komplex der neuen nationalen Bibliothek in einer sehr interessanten und modernen Weise. Offene Räume bringen Licht tief in die Bibliothek und machen eine geheime Welt, das Archiv, sichtbar für die Öffentlichkeit. Jeder der Kuben beherbergt einen anderen Teil der Sammlung und zeigt so den Besuchern den Geist der Bibliothek. Die verschiedenen Volumen des Ensembles bekommen ihren Maßstab aus der Umgebung. der Park fließt durch das Gebäude und schafft einen Zugang sowohl zur Bibliothek als auch zum Park. Der grösste Teil der Sammlung ist unter einem Gründach untergebracht in einer ruhigen Situation, die perfekt zur Lagerung von Büchern geeignet ist.
Das Drehen der Kuben macht einen überraschenden Weg durch die Bibliothek sichtbar. Die Volumen ähneln versunkenen Steinen, die ins Grün eintauchen. Im Inneren bieten sich dem Besucher interessante Blicke, die ihn neugierig machen mehr zu entdecken.
Wie Außen formen die 5 Volumen die Struktur der Bibliothek in einer sehr offenen und transparenten Weise. Das Innere zeigt sehr deutlich die Organisation der Bibliothek, sie bietet dem Benutzer eine optimale Orientierung, wobei die verschiedenen Kuben unterschiedliche Teile beherbergen.
Alle 5 Volumen ähneln alten Büchern, die Idee der Fassade ist es, diese Assoziation zu stärken. Die Außenhüllen sind mit verschiedenen Steinen verkleidet, die jedem Teil seine eigene Identität geben und so dem Besucher eine bessere Orientierung ermöglichen.
5 dancing volumes form the complex of the new national library in a very exiting and modern way. Open spaces bring light deep into the library and make a secret world, the archive, visible to the public. Each of the solitairs hosts a different part of the library and allows the people to feel the spirit of the library. With its several volumes the new Czech library gets the scale from its surrounding. The park is flowing through the building complex and offers an entrance to the park and to the library. Most part of the programme is situated under a green roof, in a quiet situation that allows to store books in the very best way.
The torsion of the volumes reveals a surprising path through the building. The volumes seem sunken stones drowning in the green. It offers interesting views into the interior of the library and encourages the curiosity of its visitors.
As in the outside the 5 volumes form the structure of the library in a very direct and transparent way also in the interior. The inside shows very clearly the organization of the library, it offers optimal orientation to the visitors while the volumes host the different parts of the structure.
All 5 volumes themselves have a big similarity to old books. The idea for the façade is to strengthen this association. The façade is considered in different stones to give each volume its identity and to support better orientation for everyone.
